Living Streets Volunteer
Are you interested in walkability? Would you like to be part of the Living Streets program?
BEST has a long history of promoting and enabling sustainable transportation through initiatives, collaboration, and leadership.
We offer innovative social enterprises, programs, and services to promote and enable sustainable and active transportation choices.
We offer innovative social enterprises, programs, and services to encourage, promote and enable sustainable and active transportation choices. Currently, the offer is a three-program stream: Living Streets, Seniors on The Move (SOTM), and The Bicycle Valet.
Living Streets promotes walking to enrich and experience public space, creating community ties, as a feasible way of transportation, and as a catalyst for physical and mental health. Living Streets is a program that identifies opportunities for education and public engagement in the pedestrian realm.
With SOTM, connecting between the availability of sustainable transportation options like public transit and the experience of driving cessation.
We also run The Bicycle Valet, free and secure bicycle/active transportation parking across Metro Vancouver.

Some things we would offer you to do:
Help organize and coordinate the Walk30 Challenge, and all supporting activities including all corporate recruitment, organizing events, and the Wrap Up Final Event
Conduct outreach for new municipalities, health authorities, and school districts to participate in local Walk30 challenges
Explore new software solutions for Walk30 challenge
Assist with seasonal walks routes planning
Lead walks
Assist with presentation and document writing as required
Write blog posts
Keep up to date with current transportation issues
Identify local and regional program growth opportunities and participates actively in developing such opportunities
Other activities as defined by the Living Streets Manager

Communications and Social Media Assistant
Would you like to put your graphic design skills to work?
BEST is looking for a creative Communications and Social Media Assistant to help us expand our digital reach, strengthen our online brand, and connect with more people and organizations across BC! The Assistant assists the Marketing and Communications Coordinator in tasks and projects related to communications for various BEST programs, including Seniors on the Move, Bicycle Valet, and Living Streets/Walk30, and will manage the social media campaigns for these programs. Daily general administrative duties include outreach to partnering organizations (current and potential), setting up and hosting meetings, note-taking, creating presentations, and assisting with grant applications where needed. Social media/digital marketing tasks include newsletter writing, content design, and regular posting across Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook profiles.
Full time start date: As soon as possible. BEST has a physical office in Chinatown providing the option to work on site, from home, or a combination! The candidate should be available for in-person events and campaigns whenever possible.

Developing and refining our social media strategy
Designing creative and visually appealing content and presentations
Working closely with the Seniors on the Move team on an upcoming documentary project
Facilitating meetings
Blogging
Website maintenance
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Passionate about sustainable and active transportation
Experience with digital and print marketing
Experience with developing web content, key messages, and communications materials
Strong graphic design skills
Strong multitasking skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and organization skills
Event coordination experience
Experience managing own workload, able to prioritize tasks
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Able to problem solve and learn on the job
Self starter, takes initiative and ownership
Assets:
Filmography and/or photography experience
Nonprofit experience
Experience with Canva and/or Hootsuite
Experience with marketing/advocacy campaigns
