Used Bikes Vancouver by Ride on Bikes

The bikes that get donated normally end up in 3 groups:

1. Repairable

If the bike can be fixed up to get back on the road, they will give it a full tune up, by professional bike mechanics, using either new or used parts. These are then sold in their store as very reasonably priced up-cycled used bikes.

2. Unrepairable

if the bike is beyond repair, they ensure that it gets stripped down as efficiently as possible, usable parts are kept to mend other bikes, the remaining parts are separated into Steel, Aluminum, Rubber, Hard Plastic to be properly recycled.

3. Given Away

They work with a number of local charities and organizations to get the bikes into the hands of the people that need them most.

Ride On Again is located at 2255 W.Broadway, Vancouver.

The aim of the program is to get bicycles and parts into the hands of people who can put them to use. They can come to your house to collect your unwanted bikes, or you can drop them off at one of their stores no matter what condition.

The Bike Kitchen (AMS Bike Co-Op)

The Bike Kitchen provides students and the wider community with an accessible environment where they can learn to fix bicycles, share resources, and work together. They engage in cycling education, outreach and advocacy to promote biking as a safe and sustainable means of transportation.

Bicycle donations are used for a whole variety of purposes that include:

- being built into guaranteed used bicycles and resold

- being built and given to someone who needs a bike via their volunteer bike building program

- being repurposed as a member of their Purple and Yellow Community Bike Fleet

- being salvaged for parts that are used to give many other bikes a new lease on life

- being fully recycled when the bike is too damaged or worn to be useable
