The end of the year schedules multiple celebrations for people of all backgrounds.

Active Transportation and, in particular, the walkability surge in recent months is a safe way to connect with neighbours at a local and regional level.

This is why from Living Streets and the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House we are inviting you to walk with us!

 
 

December 2nd, 2021

This route is set in the City of North Vancouver portion of the Spirit Trail. This section of the Spirit Trail links the Squamish Nation Waterfront Greenway through to Waterfront Park and then onto Lonsdale Quay via Carrie Cates Court.

SCHEDULE

3:00 pm - The meeting point will be the Seawall by Science World.

  • We will go into the SkyTrain to Waterfront Station, transfer to the SeaBus to arrive at Lonsdale Quay SeaBus Terminal. We will provide you with the transit fare required for each trip. If you are a monthly pass holder, you are welcome to use your own Compass Card. Learn about TransLink Sweepstakes.

  • When we start walking, we will head West to Kings Mill Walk Park. Then turn and walk to the Shipyards along Lonsdale Quay. The terrain is mostly flat with almost no vehicular traffic. There are benches and public washrooms along the route.

    • We will be walking for 30 min to 1 hour. Please wear shoes that are appropriate for you. The walking pace will be comfortable for enjoying the surroundings. This is not a workout walk and shouldn't be strenuous for participants.

  • We will serve you a hot drink at the outdoor covered public space. You can bring your own reusable cup/mug if you wish.

5:30 pm - We will go back to Vancouver - Science World. For those who wish to stay longer in the Quay, please let one of the coordinators know before the end of the activity. We will collect the names and phone numbers of those that don’t come back with the group.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

This is mainly an outdoor activity. The exception is transit travel segments to and from our destinations. Please follow the latest PHO in place, practice physical distancing, and stay home if unwell. During transit trips, masks are mandatory.

 
 

December 9th, 2021

This route is set in Lafarge Lake, Coquitlam.

SCHEDULE

3:00 pm - The meeting point will be the Seawall by Science World.

  • We will go into the SkyTrain to Commercial-Broadway, transfer to the Millenium Line to arrive at Lafarge Lake. We will provide you with the transit fare required for each trip. If you are a monthly pass holder, you are welcome to use your own Compass Card. Learn about TransLink Sweepstakes.

  • When we start walking, we will loop around the Lake. The terrain is mostly flat and pedestrian only. There are benches and public washrooms along the route.

    • We will be walking for 30 min to 1 hour. Please wear shoes that are appropriate for you. The walking pace will be comfortable for enjoying the surroundings. This is not a workout walk and shouldn't be strenuous for participants.

  • We will serve you a hot drink. You can bring your own reusable cup/mug if you wish.

This route is set in the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood.

SCHEDULE

3:30 pm - The meeting point will be the Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House.

  • When we start walking, we will head West to Jonathan Rogers Park. The terrain is mostly flat along streets with a mix of traffic and cycling lanes.

    • We will be walking for 30 min to 1 hour. Please wear shoes that are appropriate for you. The walking pace will be comfortable for enjoying the surroundings. This is not a workout walk and shouldn't be strenuous for participants.

  • We will serve you a hot drink. You can bring your own reusable cup/mug if you wish.

5:30 pm - We will end our walk together at the MPNH.
