How to record your daily walks and track them?

You are able to log in to your Active Walking Minutes in the Walk30 Challenge every day. We recommend you do this daily so you don't forget to record any walking or miss any of the extra activities. You can do it manually or by synchronizing your fitness device.

If you do it manually, all you need to do is time all your walks during the day. Log in to your Walk30 Challenge account and type in the details. Simple as that!

If you would rather have a fitness device logging the minutes for you, make sure you turn on your ‘Walking’ mode since it won’t use steps, running, or other activities. The Walk30 Challenge only registers ‘Active Walking Minutes’.

What other activities will I see when I log in to my Walk30 Challenge account?

Along the Walk30 days, you will be able to win extra points for your leaderboard by completing other activities besides tracking your Active Walking Minutes. 1 minute of your walk corresponds to 1 point, so typically if you walk 30 mins every day, you stand to score 30 points per day.

Complete these to earn extra points:

  • Walk30 Ambassador: Need a head start before day one? Earn an extra point when you share it on social media. You can link your social media to the Walk30 Challenge account. Be sure to tag us.

  • Jane’s Walk: This one is only available on May 6, 7, and 8. Make sure you participate in any of Jane’s Walks this year. Register that with the Walk30 Challenge account and there you have a +1 point per route walked!

  • Did you walk to school/work today? (True/False) +1 point per day

  • Did you walk somewhere new? (True/False) +1 point per day

  • Did you walk for your errands? Doctor’s appointment, groceries… (True/False) +1 point per day

How to log team minutes

This is a friendly reminder for those who are logging minutes on behalf of a team: you must log in only the AVERAGE of the team.

This applies, to those who have a team, but there is only one account on the Walk30 platform as a representative.

For example, Team A.

A is a school teacher and has registered their class to Walk30. In A class, there are 12 students. Every day, A's class walks 30 minutes, plus 2 of the students walk extra 5 minutes each. The number of minutes that A's has to log in will be: (12x30 + 2x5)/12=~31

This is because the Walk30 platform averages team minutes, so this way, everyone is competing fairly with the other teams.

The other case is Team B.

Team B has 3 participants registered on the platform:

· Participant 01 walks 30 minutes

· Participant 02 walks 35 minutes

· and Participant 03 walks 55 minutes

When each of the participants introduces their minutes individually, the system averages it so Team B shows as 40 minutes and not as 120.

This is a friendly competition and we encourage you all to review your data input entering the AVERAGE before the end of the week.

And, remember, the goal is to walk and have fun!

Happy Walking!

Walk to school, work, shop or play - every minute counts!
