Canada Day on Two Wheels: A Record-Breaking Ride with the Bike Valet

What does your BEST Canada Day look like? This year we were at 6 different events in Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Surrey, North Vancouver Shipyards, and Steveston where we parked a total of 652 bikes.

For most people, Canada Day offers a chance to reflect upon our nation, its history, and its roots. But this holiday in particular, which curiously enough falls exactly at the middle of the calendar year, is also a great opportunity to connect with friends and family to enjoy the dearly awaited summer. 

Like every year, there were streets closed down for events -and we were happy to be a part of many of those with The Bike Valet™. This year we were at 6 different events in Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Surrey, North Vancouver Shipyards, and Steveston where we parked a total of 652 bikes. This number represents a milestone as it represents a new record of daily bikes parked, according to our operations manager, Alex Mehta, who was behind the scenes of our entire operation throughout the day. 

That’s what our BEST Canada Day looked like -bikes rolling in, at the heart of connected communities. 

At BEST, we believe that transportation is not just about getting from point A to B. Transportation is a vehicle to building vibrant communities. Canada Day gave us a beautiful glimpse into that vision. From the Shipyards to Steveston, we saw families, couples, and individuals of all ages arrive by bike, choosing an active, eco-friendly way to join the celebration.

652 bikes might just be a number on paper, but to us it symbolizes the trend of more and more people embracing active transportation as a part of their life (not just for commuting). 

To everyone who rode with us, and our amazing 28 staff members who worked in any of these Canada Day Bike Valet locations: THANK YOU. You helped make this a memorable, record-breaking day.
