Connect with us through our social platforms:
We are conducting a survey to better understand the walking habits of British Columbians before COVID-19, and now in Phase 3 of BC’s Restart Plan. Whether for transportation, recreation, or health and fitness, we want to know why your community is walking, and what barriers they may be facing.

How and Why are people walking in your community?
Tell us about walking initiatives in your community and we will feature you on the “What’s Happening Page” or in our News and Stories. Initiatives can include:
Walk-friendly destinations - new trails, distance-friendly patios, pop-up events.
Space reallocation for pedestrians - slow streets and open streets.
Road safety measures - street speed changes and intersection updates.
Walking infrastructure plans or improvements - active transportation plans, new walkways, and pedestrian-centred community designs.
Walking groups or community champions that are making an impact in your community.
+ What is Living Streets?
Living Streets will introduce and deliver a walking communications campaign that aligns with the goals of the CleanBC Active Transportation Strategy and will seek to inspire British Columbians to choose walking as often as possible:
- As a practical and sustainable means of local transportation
- For mental and physical health in a time of social distancing
- For recreation and leisure

+ Why should you support Living Streets?
We want to know what makes your community walkable, what we can do to support your ‘living streets’ initiatives, and what barriers British Columbians are facing to getting out and walking more often.
- Are there walking programs in your community?
- Is your community developing walkable infrastructure?
- Do you know of a walking group or walking champion in your community?
+ How can you and your team get involved?
Living Streets is a new campaign and we’re looking for ways to interact with communities all across BC. You can support this program by using your audience and communications streams to help us promote walking in your community.
